IITs OR NITs ARE NOTHING IN FRONT OF PEC…. ALL IT NEEDS IS JUST AN INITIATIVE TO DO BIG…

I don’t know… but may be PEC is beautiful and best college for some or all PEC guys… May be I too feel so…  But honestly, I don’t feel so… Sometimes I’m ashamed on myself that I, as a student, not been able to take PEC to the levels of IITs or NITs.  What….. Confused and laughing?

Yes, I feel it not only depends on the management of college but also the students who must take responsibilty to make their institute to go to the top. Ok fine, let me talk in terms of my experiences…

I’m an ECE student in the reputed college of PEC. I did my diploma in ECE and a lateral entry student in PEC. I got enough good professors in my depatment. In fact, I’m proud that I got such a good professors and good and cool learning environment. Pondicherry, even if it’s not as like as a metro but it’s really a beautiful and peaceful place.

I don’t know exactly what makes IITs or NITs on the top. But as a student, what was my vision and dreams before joining PEC? What kind of obstacles I faced on my way?

I belong to West Bengal but I grown up in Pondicherry.  My family financial condition was very poor. I studied in a village school. And I was completely unaware of the outside world. I don’t know about corporate world and all. And yes, ofcourse my English was so poor. What I know was, just study and write those things in exams, get good marks so that you can join in good college. I was not teached to learn practical things. I was not teached to analyse things. Studying was always been a bitterguard for me. When asked about what you want to be in future, every student answer would be doctor, engineer or pilot. These were the options we know at that time. And yes, I made engineering as my dream. Because studing medical would be difficult and becoming pilot would be costlier. I’m an average grade student. So I chose engineering. During my 10th standard, my dreams were oscillating. Because I got interest over multimedia, animation and sound engineering. But again due to poor financial condition and unawareness about those things I had to choose engineering.  I didn’t choose higher secondary because I made my mind for engineeirng. So I chose diploma. After completing my diploma, I had lots of dreams. I got a facination on modern electronics and gadgets.  I was not completely aware of what IITs are? So obvoiusly, I have to choose for best college in Pondicherry.  In Pondicherry, PEC got a good reputation and it is a dream study for most of the students in Pondy and for me too also. I prepared for the entrance test for a month. And I came second. And what my assumptions then were, since I’m a diploma student, I can have the chance to learn things in-depth. Because there is nothing so new to study in B.Tech. I was full of confidence. But when entering into the college, everything got changed. I was forced to complete my degree anyhow. Thought of making lots of friends in B.tech. But all my dreams were broken into pieces…  I was facing the prototype of the real peoples. Anyway this was my story in short.

Now coming to point without beating about the bushes. The main obstacle everyone will face is time. Time will be moving very fast. And you will be learning to face difficult times rather than practical electronics. Internal test, lab records, and many such things will completely make mess of your time. Many times you will be writing test on same day of your lab. What I will be doing when coming to home is writing records. I get no time to study anything. Even to browse anything in internet, I need to sacrifice my sleep. Writing record is not bad thing. But we should write record of our own expericences from what we got from lab. But you will get no other option and you have to copy from previous record and pen it down. It’s just like a punishment. It is completely a waste of time. I could better invest that time in learning some new things.
Teaching should be like a modem between what you know and what you don’t know. But for an average student like me, really I can’t really get what professors are teaching. It’s like out of the world even though it’s a very simple concept.

We are lagging far behind from the present world.

When I was travelling in train, there were two IIT students in my compartment. When one person asked them what they do, and when they siad IIT, these two guyz got attention of most of the people in my compartment. Everyones eyes were filled with respect for them. And that is special about IIT.

Why is it so special?  Is it because only talented students get admission there? If so, I completely disagree. Every college is filled with lots of talented students. It’s not like since they get admission into IITs, they are the only genius. I will say IIT is nothing in front of me. It’s just a brand name. IIT student gets chance to expose themselves. They are very much eager to be exposed. They do lots of stuffs other than only studying. Where do they get time? I will say it’s just because of their smart plus hard work. They act too smartly and walk with confidence with every step. And why? Because they are IITians. We are also very smart but why can’t we? Because we think we are not IITians. It’s not the way of teaching of professors. It’s the way of thinking of each individual. Unless the student is interested, the institution can do nothing. Everywhere everyone is facing same kind of problems like writing useless lab records and internal test, etc. But it’s just depends on the smartness, eagerness and courage to do big things. Even a single student is enough to make his/her college to feel proud.

Institution will always create problems for everyone. It depend on us how we expose our talents to outside world. Institution won’t provide us corporate experiences. We need to learn it by ourselves. You are paid for for your ideas. New ideas are always welcome. You won’t get exposed by getting highest marks in subjects. Marks are just useless things. Even companies won’t look for your marks. They look for talents.

When it comes to any technical symposium or any cultural function, institutions like IITs and NITs grab attention of every engineering student. They do it in a grand manner. They get lots of sponsors. But why can’t we do like that? If you say, we don’t get that much sponsors, I will again disagree. We are not actually doing any big things and then why should we expect for big sponsors? Do something big and different, and difinitely we can also get big sponsors. It’s all in our ideas.

We need to publicise our college by participating in other big symposiums and we must prove that we are also the bestby winning the competitions. Why should we follow what other college is doing for symposium? For example, we are doing in go green theme for our dept event, but this theme has been already adopted by other reputed colleges a year before. We are just lagging and it’s actually equivalent in following them. Even if we are lagging behind, but we could do something new in this same theme by which the whole world can turn around. We can do something similar to what NDTV Greenathon is doing. But the fact is we just using the go green theme for name sake and we just doing a very normal awareness. Ideas are something that don’t remain in hands or remain consistent. The minute you have an awesome idea, the next minute you will be seeing the same idea to be executed by someone else. The world has become too competitive.

And talking about the projects we do, I don’t think we are doing something new and learning many things. And my opinion on this is, please let me go by my way. Don’t make project a lab practical. Our college management should revise on project grading systems. Project Reviews are really a great hindrance for my thoughts. About project I will only say, “Give me one month for project, I will show how to obtain output in paint. Give me just six months for project, I will show you how to launch a satellite.” Being an average student, I’m finding it very difficult to concentrate on project and other theories and lab practical all at same time. I have nothing more to say on this, because my mind is not yet programmed to work on multiprocessing at same time.

Even though we are not getting a smart education, but we could really make our minds to adapt to smart education. We can change the present scenario. All we need to make make our thoughts spread wide and work smartly. If any rules is coming in our way of progress, then just break the rules whatever be the outcome. Rules are made for our comfortness only. I believe that PEC students have the potential to make PEC at the top of the world. It just needs an initiative. Never blame the education system or institution or infrastructure we have. It’s better to change ourselves rather than blaming someone. Your Driver will drive the car only on your command and will go wherever you want. Institutions are running not for teaching staffs, it is acutally for the students. PEC is just timid not weak.

And why I’m ashamed of myself is, because I’m just talking. I didn’t do anything for my college yet. I believe I’m having tremendous potentials and talents in me. I alone enough to make my college proud and make it a talk of the world. I‘ll still say IITs and NITs are nothing to me.  But I’m lost somewhere. My thoughts and talents got scrambled. My problem is I’m not a good listener or speaker but indeed I’m a good analyzer, smart and intelligent. I don’t know what kind of controversies I’m going to face for this. But I must say it’s completely my opinion and no one can lock my thoughts.

End of the World

The End of the World lies on the level of egoism in people's mind... :(

Infinite creativity comes from measureless ideas

When ideas get limited, Creativity and Innovation shrinks....

Let the world look at me...

If you want the world to look at you, then do the things differently better than trying new things.... :-)

Selfish People

The world is too short. And it becomes too shorter when you start realizing that you are surrounded by selfish people...

ILLUSIONS

The best way to overcome an illusion is to fake the illusion.
